Judospace Executive Assistant visits Japan

11th October 2013

During September 2013, Miss Janine Johnson, Executive Assistant at Judospace, visited Japan. Miss Johnson travelled with the TeamBath Judo group, under the leadership of Juergen Klinger, and spent time training at Tsukuba University and the Kodokan Judo Institute.

Whilst there Miss Johnson met Professor Takeshi Nakajima, former Treasurer of the International Association of Judo Researchers, based at Kokushikan University. Professor Nakajima and his colleague, former World Judo Champion Yasuhiko Moriwaki welcomed the group with a day trip out to climb Mount Fuji!

For Miss Johnson it was her first visit to Japan and first experience of Japanese style of training, she said “It was interesting to adapt to a different randori system to that of a typical European session, in that it was very high in volume but somewhat looser in movement and intensity. Thank you to everyone who made the visit so memorable.”
